What are Class III Approved scales?
Scales that are Class III Approved are built, tested, verified, and calibrated in order to meet certain standards. According to the NAWI directive, a scale ‘used in the determination of mass in the practice of medicine for the purpose of monitoring, diagnosis, and medical treatment’ must be Class III Approved. To give the user assurance of accuracy and reliability, an EU notified body will rigorously test these scales.
How can patient weight data be recorded?
The Marsden M-640 Bariatric Scale features our premium indicator, which means it is easy to use, and there is also a range of accessories available for recording patient weight.
For a printed record of patient weight data, choose the optional TP-2100 printer. This printer provides a hard copy of patient weight, plus BMI and height if that has been entered/calculated using the indicator. Each printout is the date and time-stamped.
Weight (plus height and BMI) data can also be sent wirelessly from the scale to a central database, using either Bluetooth or Wifi technology. Whilst Marsden does not provide software for capturing the data, we can provide all technical information such as protocols if you are configuring your own systems to receive this data. Wireless recording of patient information can save time, improve the quality and reliability of patient records and also help you become a paperless organisation.
Why should I purchase the M-640 Bariatric & Wheelchair Scales?
The M-640 is a convenient and versatile weighing scale for bariatric patients, particularly those who cannot stand, or need support when standing. As well as handrails and a seat, it has gentle incline ramps for wheelchairs.
With a full numeric keypad and three displays, it is easy to calculate a patient’s BMI. The scale has Tare/Preset Tare functions so that the weight of the wheelchair can be deducted before weighing the patient. The Hold function stabilises the weight reading on the display, and remains on the display after the patient has stepped off the scale.
The M-640 weighs up to 300kg or 500kg in 100g increments and is powered by a rechargeable battery, which provides 55 hours of continuous use.
